During the final arrangement of the territory of a country house, special attention is paid to the fence. It has not only a protective function, but also must have an attractive "appearance" and harmoniously combine with the exterior of the building. In the list of varieties, a special place is occupied by a stone fence, which is made using a mesh. Such gabion structures are today considered the most popular element of landscape design.

Gabion fence: mesh and stone fence

This option will be appropriate when the designer is faced with the task of developing a plan for a modern fence that would be inexpensive and have an original appearance. A gabion fence is a frame made of rigid metal mesh, which is firmly welded and filled with stones. A stone fence is formed from sections, representing a gabion fence from a filler and a base. These metal baskets (sections) or gabions can be of different sizes and equipped with a variety of materials, including glass and wood. However, stone is considered the most optimal, since walls made of such materials will be as strong as possible and can well retain sounds. Other advantages of gabions include the following:

  • Extreme strength. Similar structures made of gabion sections withstand heavy loads well.
  • Moisture resistance. The fence is not exposed to moisture, and therefore there is no need to install a drainage system during the construction of the structure.
  • High anti-corrosion properties. In general, untreated gabion mesh can be subject to corrosion, but this process will last for more than one decade. Even with complete decay of the mesh, the masonry remains and will be able to fully fulfill its function.
  • Long-term operation. The total service life of a gabion fence made of pebbles is 75 years. It is worth noting that over the years the stability and strength of the structure increases.
  • Environmental friendliness. Such aesthetic fences are created from natural materials, which over time become overgrown with grass and are fastened with particles of natural landscape elements.

It is also worth noting their economy and aesthetics. Gabion fences are much cheaper than other types of decorative fences and do not require special care. Their "appearance" has an extremely aesthetic and original appearance, perfectly fitting into landscape design.

Features of installing a gabion fence

The specifics of the installation work when installing a fence made of gabion blocks are as follows:

  • Preparation of the area. It involves clearing the area with the removal of excess vegetation and stones.
  • Digging a trench. Its depth should be at least 40 cm, the final figure is determined depending on the height of the fence. If necessary, you need to take care of the support posts.
  • Installation of gabions. Each fraction of the mesh is fixed using a galvanized spiral to increase the stability of the structure.
  • Filling the gabions with stone. For this, you can use a variety of materials - natural and artificial stone, gravel, glass, broken brick, etc.

Installation of the upper mesh is carried out at the final stage. This element is essentially a kind of roof of the fence. For this, the upper mesh is fixed with a metal spiral.
