Construction of fences: features and types

Each plot, both private and public, is usually fenced on all sides or at least partially. This makes it possible to designate a certain territory for the purpose of its improvement, as well as to protect it from the penetration of strangers. These and other points must be taken into account in the planning process and when erecting a fence.

One of the important points is the purpose of the structure. The method of installing the fence and the specifics of the choice of material for construction largely depend on this. For example, sports grounds are often fenced with a chain-link fence. If you are faced with the task of absorbing sounds, then in this case a denser material is usually selected.

The emphasis of the architectural design is no less important. It is desirable that the fence looks harmoniously in the same style with the house and other objects on the site. For example, experts advise installing welded or forged metal structures near brick buildings. Low wooden picket fences are perfect for neat summer cottages.

Gates and wickets are important elements of the fence structure

Any fence has an entrance for people and an entrance for vehicles. A wicket is installed for the entrance. Most often, metal is used as the main material for its manufacture. Wickets are equipped with locks, latches, handles, and an intercom and alarm system are also installed on them. The gates are installed either next to it or at a certain distance. They are installed in the following varieties:

  • Sliding. They open by sliding in one or different directions. Such a design is made in the form of a canvas, which moves with the help of rollers along the fence. As a rule, such gates are also made of metal, or from corrugated board, sandwich panels.
  • Roller. These are louvered gates, distinguished by the presence of a canvas and a box in which the control mechanism is located. They provide compactness of operation, so such designs are ideal in places with limited space.
  • Swing. These are the gates that are most common. They open by opening the flaps to the street or to the yard. Swing variations are often supplemented with automation, which makes operation easier. Gates and wickets are usually ordered in the same design and from the same material.

Types of fences in terms of materials used

Not so long ago, wooden fencing was the most popular in Ukraine. And today, wooden fences are considered convenient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly. In order for their service life to be as long as possible, you should select a base material from durable wood species.

Photos of such structures can be found in the portfolio of completed works on the RSC ALBA website. They can be made in the format of a solid canvas or with the addition of other materials. Options where the columns and foundation are made of stone or brick look great.

In addition to wooden ones, other variations of fences are available to customers:

  • Eurofences - are installed from concrete slabs, allow surface treatment with paint of any color; their operational period is up to 50 years;
  • from rubble - stone fences that require the installation of a strip foundation and columns, the space between them is filled with another material;
  • from brick - both solid and similar to rubble; rubble, brick, polycarbonate, metal, wood can be used as additional materials to fill the space;
  • block - decorative blocks are used for construction, such fences are identical in design to those mentioned above;
  • mesh - involve the use of a chain-link fence, which is fixed to support posts or welded to metal corners;
  • made of corrugated board - columns for installing the material are made of stone, metal or brick and are attached to a strip foundation; corrugated board is fixed to U-shaped strips of a profile pipe;
  • made of gabions - such fences also require preliminary construction of a strip foundation. A frame base made of durable mesh is installed on it, which is subsequently filled with stones of a certain size. Span segments can also be stone or covered with wood, corrugated board or ready-made panels.
  • made of 3D mesh - fences are usually installed on support posts with or without a strip foundation.

Features of modern fence design

Metal fences are often made from prepared sections with a specific pattern. Forged elements of sections look especially original - such fences are often made to order.

Wooden fences are distinguished by the specific arrangement of the boards. Due to this, they can be mounted horizontally or vertically, providing a solid format or in the form of a shalevka, picket fence, etc. Recently, the method of laser cutting on the surface has become popular in design. This makes it possible to get a unique pattern and create a special style of design.

Many designers decide to decorate the fence in the same direction in color and shape with the facade of the house. In this case, the fences are erected from aerated concrete or brick, covered on top with bark beetle or lamb plaster, or marble chips.

Requirements for fences near a private house: recommendations from designers

When planning such fences, the design and functionality of the structure are taken into account. The list of budget and quick options includes a picket fence. It allows you to get a good view without cluttering up the space. Metal fences will look more impressive and presentable, completely blocking the view.

The most successful option for suburban areas is considered to be a fence called "ranch". This is an improved version of the usual wooden fence, made in the style of an American fence. When planning such a design, you can change the height, width and thickness of the slats, "adjusting" them to your needs. For finishing, a color stylized as wood is usually chosen.
